Maths Quiz Club - posted 23rd May

Huge congratulations to both of our teams that took part in the national Maths Quiz Club competition yesterday, pitting themselves against teams from as far afield as Salisbury and Oxford. Lawn 2 acquitted themselves well and with a late surge, including 100% on the final hardest question, came a creditable fifth. After a very tense last few questions, Lawn 1,  also scored 100% on the final question - enough to regain the lead and run out winners. We can look forward to the regional final now.

Sevington Victorian School - posted 14th Nov

Last week, we went back in time when we visited Sevington School near Chippenham. Sevington is a perfectly preserved Victorian schoolroom and teacher's house, complete with kitchen garden and wash house. We all dressed in Victorian clothes and attended school as if it were over 150 years ago. Boys and girls were separated, the children sat in rows and wrote on slates and Miss Squire even showed us her 'articles of correction'. Luckily, she didn't actually use the cane! It was a fun day and greatly added to our Victorian topic.
